Researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania found that levels of a protein called prostagland in Dsynthase were elevated in areas of scalp that were bald, but not in areas that had hair. They are working on developing a cream that will stop the protein from inhibiting hair growth and possibly promote regrowth.
Can you avoid stretch marks during pregnancy?
No, but some factors make you more likely to get them, according to babycenter.com. Risk factors include gaining more weight than expected, carrying a large baby or multiples, or having excess amniotic fluid. Genetic factors may play a role, too, and younger mothers may be more likely to get stretch marks. While they’ll never disappear entirely, the marks are likely to fade within 6 to 12 months of childbirth.
