Emmy-award winning TV host and executive producer of Survivor Jeff Probst shared his thoughts on determination during our interview for the May/June cover story. Here’s what he had to say:

Q. What does determination mean to you?
A. A determined person continues to pursue their goal regardless the setbacks. It’s not about keeping score; it’s about pushing yourself to see what you are truly capable of achieving.

Q. What is your biggest personal goal right now?
A.The goals I am focusing on personally all revolve around living up to my own expectations about the kind of person I am capable of becoming.

Q. What helps you find focus?
A. My mind is quite noisy. When I am in need of focus, a bit of quiet is usually the answer. In fact, I need a bit of quiet time every day.

Q. What health or fitness tips have you learned from hosting Survivor that our readers can apply to their everyday lives?
A. I’ve learned one really helpful tip: Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. If you’re tired and you don’t feel like crushing it in your workout, don’t use this as a reason not to go. Show up and just do what you can. Even 50% is better than nothing at all.

Q. Who or what inspires you?
A. Ah man that list is so long I could write for days. I’m inspired every day by all sorts of people and moments. Dream chasers, people performing acts of service, volunteer coaches, teachers, the Tesla, the IPhone, virtual reality, breakthroughs in medicine, even an awesome burger. With fries.
