In our July/August cover story, TV and radio host Leeza Gibbons shared how she used her experience as a caregiver to help others. During our interview, she shared her appreciation for everything that life has to offer. Here’s what she had to say:

Question: Who has helped inspire you to live your life to the fullest?

Answer: My husband makes everyone want to stand taller and reach for the stars. From encouraging me to stay hydrated, to playing brain games, Pilates and massage, he’s like a health and wellness coach, but more than that, he plans the most thoughtful trips and events, big and small. Those kinds of moments create the memories that make life special.Question: What do you enjoy most about life? Well, that’s a big ole question!! I like that you get to make it up as you go along. I mean, we really are creations of our own invention.

Q: What activities do you feel keep you grounded and true to who you are?

A: I like to scrapbook, but lately it’s just been homemade cards. I’m not even very good at it, but I have boxes and drawers and bins full of supplies…ribbons, flowers, buttons and embellishments of all kinds! I love to pull it out and play. I think it soothes the memory-keeping side of me. Or maybe I’m just a craft-geek.

Q: How has your personal growth throughout the years made you appreciate life? Most of us find the rear-view mirror gives us 20/20 vision and lots of wisdom. I can now appreciate and celebrate failures; recognizing them as the pillars of my foundation today. A woman of strength knows that it is only within the journey that she can become strong.
