Living healthy never goes out of season
With the heat of summer still lingering, it’s hard to imagine we’re actually heading into the fall season. But schools and universities are back in session, tailgating is in full swing and before you know it, the cooler temperatures and colorful leaves will usher in another change.
It’s during this time when we at Healthy Living Made Simple turn our attention to women’s health issues as well as diabetes. There are few things in life as exciting and challenging as being a new mom. We are thrilled that TV host Cat Deeley took time out of her busy schedule to share with us her journey into motherhood.
There’s no denying the serious nature of diabetes and the impact it has on people of all ages. Research by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that every five minutes, two people die of diabetes-related causes and another 14 adults are newly diagnosed with the disease. Along with changes in diet, exercise and medication, there’s a psychological toll that goes along with what can be considered a lifestyle upheaval after receiving a diagnosis. Our story addresses how newly diagnosed, as well as long-term patients, face the mental challenges associated with diabetes. In addition, Dr. Travis Stork from the hit TV series The Doctors explains how some who suffer with diabetes or from chronically high blood sugar also deal with a condition that causes nerve damage (diabetic peripheral neuropathy).
