According to researchers at the University of Missouri-Columbia, the incidence of canine diabetes has increased 200 percent since 1980. Now, in addition to traditional treatments like restricted diets and insulin, veterinarians are sometimes placing continuous glucose monitors under the skin to help monitor the condition of diabetic dogs not responding to conventional treatment.
