Planting the seeds of healthy living
As we leap into spring, it’s time to shake off the winter blues and start getting our home and health in shape. In this issue of Healthy Living Made Simple, we look at how the basic action of breathing can relieve stress , the many benefits of creating and caring for a garden and so much more.
We are beyond thrilled to share with you our cover celebrity’s story. Misty Copeland became the first female African-American principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre. Her hard work and determination, starting at the relatively old dance-age of 13, took her to heights seldom reached by many professional dancers. Misty has worked tirelessly to show people the professional athleticism required in ballet and the effort and struggle that goes into making it to the top of the dance world.
Dr. Bill Sears tackles the age-old struggle of weaning little ones off their pacifier. This form of self-comfort for babies has been around for a long time and is a tried and true method used by parents across the country. At some point, there comes a time to let the binky go, and Dr. Sears provides some great options to help your little one do just that.
Taking a deep breath is something we usually don’t think about unless the doctor asks us to during a routine exam or if we’re experiencing physical exertion. You’ll learn in our story on regular deep breathing that switching to regular deep breaths from typical, shallow breaths can greatly reduce stress and tension in your body.

The healthy foods we carry, our award-winning Pharmacy, Hearing Aid and Optical Centers, and the wide-ranging products you’ll find in-club and online show how important your health is to Sam’s Club.
