Recognizing those who care
November is National Family Caregivers month, a time to show appreciation to family members, friends and loved ones who devote countless hours to providing quality care to those in need.
Caregivers are as diverse as the United States, encompassing every age, gender, socioeconomic and racial background. For all the shared struggles caregivers face, they also face many different challenges depending on their circumstance.
Recently Sam’s Club member Stacey Holcomb shared her journey as a caregiver to her mother, Eddie Ruth Gray. Also, Karen Bolton shared her 15-year experience taking care of her parents. We encourage everyone to take the time and read these touching accounts. If you would like to share your story or offer advice on your personal family caregiving experiences, let us know on Facebook or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A 2015 study by the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) and the American Association of Retired Persons revealed an estimated 39.8 million adults in the United States have provided unpaid care to an adult or child. More than 34 million people provide care for an adult age 50 or older.
With all of this in mind, we want to remind all our family caregiver members that Sam’s Club recognizes the different need states of your loved ones and is here to provide solutions for those conditions.
